About the Role
bitewell is seeking a detail-oriented and data-centric Nutrition Specialist. This individual is a registered dietitian and excited to help people achieve their dietary goals. They will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the quality of our most important technology, the FoodHealth Score. The score is a personalized rating system that helps people better understand which food items will work best for their nutrition goals and, if applicable, conditions. The ideal candidate is early in their career, enthusiastic about joining a dynamic team, and passionate about ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our nutrition data. This role reports to the Product Lead of Nutrition Intelligence.
Key Functions:
Review and verify the inputs and outputs of our proprietary nutrition profiling system, the FoodHealth Score.
Analyze data to ensure that foods are matched correctly to their nutritional profiles.
Ensure that dietary tags are assigned and weighted appropriately for relevant health conditions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to engineering, data, nutrition, and food supply, to resolve discrepancies and improve the accuracy of our nutrition data.
Conduct detailed reviews of nutritional information and make recommendations for improvements.
Assist in the development and implementation of new data quality standards and protocols.
Stay updated with the latest nutrition research and industry standards to inform data analysis and recommendations. You may, from time to time, help other teams by creating nutrition-related collateral.
Requirements:
Certified as a Registered Dietitian.
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data handling.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Enthusiastic and proactive attitude, with a passion for nutrition and data quality.
It’s a plus, but not required, if you’ve worked with data analytics tools and/or know SQL.
